Jean Ter-Merguerian has got the “1er Prix” at the Marseille Conservatoire at the age of 11 in the violin class of Gabriel Rey. On May 18, 1947 took place his debut as soloist with Vivaldi Concerto in A minor and Mendelssohn Concerto in E minor with the Orchestre du Conservatoire under the baton of André Audoli. In the same year his family immigrated to Soviet Armenia Republic, where he continued his musical studies in Yerevan with Karp Dombayev and then at the Moscow Conservatory in the class of David Oistrakh.
Jean Ter-Merguerian hat im Alter von 11 Jahren den "1er Prix" am Konservatorium von Marseille in der Violinklasse von Gabriel Rey gewonnen. Am 18. Mai 1947 fand sein Debüt als Solist mit dem Vivaldi-Konzert in a-Moll und dem Mendelssohn-Konzert in e-Moll zusammen mit dem Orchestre du Conservatoire unter dem Dirigat von André Audoli statt. Im selben Jahr emigrierte seine Familie in die Sowjetrepublik Armenien, wo er sein Musikstudium in Eriwan bei Karp Dombajew und anschließend am Moskauer Konservatorium in der Klasse von David Oistrach fortsetzte.
