Eddy Vanoosthuyse received his first lessons from his father. He furthered his studies with Hendrik Six (Municipal Music Conservatory Kortrijk), Freddy Coppé (Kunsthumaniora for Music Ghent) and Freddy Arteel (Royal Music Conservatory Ghent).
He started his artistic career very young as clarinet soloist at the ‘Opera voor Vlaanderen’, later he became the principal clarinet of the new orchestra of the Flemish Opera, a position he exchanged for that at the Brussels Philharmonic (formerly BRT Philharmonic Orchestra). He also teaches clarinet at the Royal Conservatory of Music Ghent (Hogeschool Gent/School of Arts) and at the Fontys Academy for Music and Performing Arts Tilburg.
He has made solo recordings with SONY, Decca, EMI, Naxos, Briljant Classic, Aeon, Talent, Gobelin and Phaedra as well as radio and TV recordings for BRTN/VRT, RTBF, VARA, Radio Suisse Romande, Magyar Radio, Czech Radio, Slovanian Radio, Danish Radio, Lietuvos Radio, Chili Radio and Exqui.
Vanoosthuyse has worked with some of the most prominent composers of his time such as Olivier Messiaen, John Corigliano, Alfred Reed, Hans Zimmer. He has created about 50 such works dedicated to him, including works by Arturo Marquez, Oscar winner Nicola Piovani, Dirk Brossé, Johan Duijck, Jan Van der Roost, Scott McAllister, Wilfried Westerlinck, Roland Coryn, Oscar Navarro, Eric Desimpelaere, Norbert Goddaer, Alfred Prinz, Piet Swerts, Wim Henderickx, André Laporte, Jean Louel, Raymond Decancq, Alain Crepin, David Loeb, Marc Matthys, Frits Celis, etc.
He has performed as soloist with numerous orchestras including the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, Simon Bolivar Orchestra / Caracas, Shanghai Symphony Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia, Vancouver Chamber Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra of Stanislavsky Theater Moscow, Collegium Instrumentale Brugense, I Pommerigi Musicale Milano, Symphony Orchestra Flanders, Lisbon Metropolitan Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic, Slovak Sinfonietta, ChengDu Symphony (China), Central Aichi Symphony Orchestra (Japan), Free State Symphony (South Africa), Beethoven Academy / Krakow, BRT Philharmonic Orchestra, Kansas Sinfonietta, Janacek Philharmonic Orchestra (Czech Symphony Orchestra), Sofia Soloists, and many others with conductors such asFernand Terby, Silveer Vandenbroeck, Georges Octors, Yoel Levi, Michel Tabachnic, Peter Oundjian, Saulius Sondeckis, Paul Meyer, Jan Lathem-Koenig, Dirk Brossé, Jan Stulen etc.
Because of his love for the concert band, he has performed with the Royal Symphonic Windbands of the Belgian Guides, Navy and Air Force, the Royal Military Band of the Netherlands, the Symphonic Windband of the Honor Guard Lithuania (of which he was the permanent guest conductor for 4 years), the US Army Band, Simon Bolivar Symphonic Windorchestra / Caracas (which he also conducted) and other orchestras in France, Portugal, Spain, the Netherlands and Italy.
In addition, Vanoosthuyse has performed Mozart’s quintet more than 150 times (as well as other quintets) with various international string quartets such as the Ysaÿe Quartet and Ensemble, Ciurlionis Quartet, Vilnius Quartet, Simon Bolivar Quartet, Daniel Quartet, Arriaga Quartet, Roman Quartet, Bangkok Quartet, Beijing String Quartet, Odeion String Quartet and his own ensemble.
He performed at the Festival of Flanders, Klara Festival, Festival of Wallonia, Festival of Contemporary Music ARS MUSICA, November Festival, Festival de Bourgogne, Mozart Festival, Ljubljana Festival, Vilnius Festival, Janáček Festival, Extravaganza Festival, Beijing Festival, Festival Domaine Forget Charlevoix-Québec, Holland Festival, Caracas Festival, etc. in almost all European countries, China, Japan, Thailand, Singapore, USA, Canada, Mexico, Venezuela, Chile, Argentina, Peru, Colombia and South Africa.
Vanoosthuyse is the artistic manager of International Music Promotion, the prestigious International Clarinet Competition Ghent and Clarinets on Stage. He sits on the jury of various international competitions and teaches at universities and conservatories in 5 continents. Since 2017 he is chairman of the "International Art Competition Singapore".
In 2010, he was the co-founder of the European Clarinet Association that was officialized in the Townhall of his hometown Kortrijk.
In April 2020, he was elected by his colleagues as the Vice President of the prestigious International Clarinet Association, the world organization of the clarinet.
Eddy Vanoosthuyse was selected for the World Philharmonic Orchestra (Georges Prêtres) and invited to the Symphonicum Europea (Lincoln Center Fisher Hall, New York).
Vanoosthuyse exclusively plays the Buffet Crampon ‘TOSCA’ Clarinets, the Vandoren mouthpieces and reeds and Silverstein Ligatures.
Dirk Brossé, an internationally acclaimed conductor and composer, is currently Music Director of The Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia.
He is also professor of composition and conducting at the Royal Conservatory of Music at his hometown Ghent, Belgium.
Dirk Brossé has guest-conducted many major orchestras throughout the world, among them, the London Symphony Orchestra, London Philharmonic Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic, Vancouver Opera, Opéra de Lyon, Hong Kong Chinese Orchestra, l’Orchestre de la Suisse Romande and the Philharmonic Orchestras of Brussels, Antwerp, Rotterdam, Basel, Madrid, Birmingham, Ulster, Liverpool, Glasgow, Stavanger, Goteborg, Prague, Copenhagen, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Seoul, Queensland, St Petersburg, Caracas, Hiroshima, Osaka, Munich, Dublin, Krakow, Budapest, Vancouver, and Los Angeles. In 2008 he made his first appearance at the Royal Albert Hall in London, conducting the London Symphony Orchestra.
In 2016 he made his debut at the Carnegie Hall New York.
Maestro Brossé is also a highly- regarded, award-winning composer whose body of some 400 works encompasses concerti, oratorios, lieder, chamber music and symphonic pieces, as well as scores for cinema, television and stage, including the Emmy-nominated score for the BBC/HBO series, Parade’s End. Other scores include Prince of Africa, Daens, Sacco & Vanzetti, Tintin, Rembrandt, Ben X, Pauline & Paulette, 14-18 and Scrooge. Maestro Brossé’s versatility is evident in commissions written for age-old instruments around the world, an enthusiasm that has led him to champion variety in repertoire and integrate broad cultural traditions in his programs for the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia. His “Pictures at an Exhibition”, inspired by a series of paintings on display in the Philadelphia Museum of Art, was commissioned by the Chamber Orchestra of Philadelphia in 2015 and had its world premiere in Perelman Hall, followed by a performance in New York City’s Carnegie Hall.
Maestro Brossé is a versatile and creative performer with a keen interest in cinematic music and an early proponent of bringing movie scores to orchestral venues. He was chosen by John Williams to conduct the Star Wars in Concert World Tour in 2009, the first world tour of its kind. He is also director of the World Soundtrack Academy at the prestigious Ghent Film Festival.
He has made more than 100 CD recordings and has collaborated with world-class artists such as José Van Dam, Barbara Hendricks, Julia Migenes, Claron McFadden, Julian Lloyd Webber, Sabine Meyer, Alison Balsom, Salvatore Accardo, John Williams, Toots Thielemans, Gabriel Yared, Hans Zimmer, Elmer Bernstein, Emma Thompson, Kenneth Branagh, Randy Crawford, Lisa Gerrard, Mel Brooks, Sinead O’Connor, Maurice Jarre, Michel Legrand, Youssou N’Dour, Marcel Khalifé, John Malkovich. He has worked with directors Stijn Coninx, Frank Van Laecke, Susanna White and Roland Joffé, and with writers Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Seth Gaaikema and Didier Van Cauwelaert.
Dirk Brossé has been awarded the title Cultural Ambassador of Flanders, the Flemish Parliament’s Gold Medal for Merit, the Achille Van Acker Prize, the Joseph Plateau Honorary Award and the Global Thinkers Forum Award for Excellence in Cultural Creativity.
In 2013 he was elevated to Belgium’s hereditary nobility, with the personal title of Sir. He is a member of the Royal Flemish Academy of Belgium for Science and the Arts. Since 2018 Dirk is a Fellow in Arts & Humanities at the Brussels University VUB. Recently Dirk received from His Majesty King Filip of Belgium the highest award from the Belgian Monarchy: ‘Commander in the Order of Leopold’.
Johan Duijck reveals an artistic versatility as a choir conductor, composer, pianist and teacher. He has become internationally renowned as director of the Flemish Radio Choir, the Academy of St. Martin in the Fields Chorus (London), the World Youth Choir and the Ghent Madrigal Choir. Leading chamber and radio choirs throughout Europe and Latin America often invite him to be a guest-conductor. He regularly appears in master classes and juries for international choir festivals.
As a composer Johan Duijck concentrates on piano, organ and choral music. One can find his compositions on six CDs, recorded by Phaedra (In Flanders’ Fields - www.phaedracd.com).

Alain Crepin, a many-sided musician, was born on February 28th 1954 at Mettet (Belgium). At first he studied saxophone, violoncello and piano at Dinant; later on he went to study the saxophone with François Danneels at the Royal Brussels Conservatory of Music. He graduated from this prestigious conservatory with a Higher Degree for saxophone and chamber music as well as First prizes for harmony and counterpoint. Moreover, he also studied fugue and orchestration.
At present he is professor of saxophone at the Brussels ‘Conservatoire Royal de Musique’ and professor of orchestration and conducting at the Conservatory of Music of Esch-sur-Alzette (Grand Duchy of Luxemburg).
Since 1983 he is a military bandmaster with the rank of an officer and for 21 years he was musical director of the Royal Symphonic Band of the Belgian Air Force. King Albert II promoted Alain Crepin to the rank of major on December 26th 2004 and on until August 31th 2008 he was appointed artistic director of all the bands of the Belgian Army.
As a soloist or conductor he has recorded some 60 compact discs and performed all over the world. He accompanied the greatest saxophone players at the European Saxophone Days at Dinant in 1990 and at the World Saxophone Congresses in Minneapolis (Minnesota 2003) and Ljubljana (Slovenia 2006). As a virtuosos saxophonist he was also Vice President of the (Association Internationale pour l'Essor du Saxophone) and he is currently a board member of the “A.SAX” (Association pour le Saxophone). Since 1994, Alain Crepin is also an active member of the “AIAS” (Association Internationale Adolphe Sax / International Adolphe Sax Association) at Dinant. He was secretary of the jury of the International Saxophone Contests at Dinant in 1994, 1998 and 2002, and since 2005 he is president of this jury. Every four year he conducts the gathering of saxophonists from all over the world honouring the inventor of their instrument (in 2006 they were no less than 1402!).
As a composer, Alain Crepin wrote numerous works for symphonic band as well as a lot of solo instrumental pieces with piano accompaniment. Most of these compositions have been recorded on CD and performed by famous wind bands and orchestras in many countries.
Crepin’s compositions are published as well in Belgium (with Andel, HaFaBra Martinus, Bayard-Nizet) as in France (with Henry Lemoine – Paris and Robert Martin – Mâcon) and in The Netherlands (with De Haske Publications and Tierolff Muziekcentrale).
These numerous activities do not prevent him from adjudicating in Belgium and abroad (at the Paris 'Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique', as well as in Nice, Munich, Valencia, Taiwan, Madrid, Israel, Trento ... Moreover, he also gives several master-classes e.g. in Vienna, Jerusalem, Gap (France), Alicante (Spain),Szczecin(Poland), Madrid (Spain, Caracas (Venezuela) etc…
