Dan McCarthy is a Canadian jazz vibraphonist currently based in Brooklyn, NY. Born in Toronto, ON, Dan quickly made a name for himself on the Toronto jazz scene, performing with such notable Canadian artists as Ted Warren, Pat Collins, Peter Appleyard, Ted Quinlan, Lorne Lofsky, Terry Clarke, Brandi Disterheft, Laila Biali, and Don Thompson.
Moving to New York City in 2004 brought many more opportunities for Dan, giving him the chance to play and record with some of the top jazz musicians in the world, such as Steve Swallow, JD Allen, Ben Monder, Mark Feldman, George Garzone, Myron Walden, Rudy Royston, Mark Shim, Ari Hoenig, Gary Bartz, Robin Eubanks, Gerald Cleaver, and Ingrid Jensen.
He released his first record, "Interwords" in 2006, which was hailed by Geoff Chapman of The Toronto Star as one of the top 10 jazz records of the year. His playing has been called "ambitious", "arresting", and "show-stopping" by George Harris at All About Jazz Los Angeles, who also said his Dan "walks the tightrope between calm gentility and fiery abandon". Mark F. Turner at All About Jazz New York says that "Dan gives new visions of the mallet instrument." Dan's second record, "Let's Start The Show", released in 2009, features the unique combination of vibraphone and banjo, accompanied by bass and drums. Jazz critic Kurt Gottschalk described the album as "cinematic." In 2018, Dan released a free-improvisation duo record that was recorded in 2004 with fellow Toronto pianist Gordon Webster, entitled "Constellation." In addition to performing, Dan is also actively engaged in music education as a private teacher as well as giving masterclasses and clinics at high schools and colleges in Toronto and New York.

Steve Swallow has played with many of the major figures of contemporary jazz and post-bebop music, beginning in 1960 when he first met Paul and Carla Bley. Soon thereafter, he was playing in the Paul Bley Trio, Jimmy Giuffre Trio and George Russell Sextet with Eric Dolphy. After playing with Gary Burton in Stan Getz’s group, he joined the vibraphonist’s band, playing in most of Burton’s ensembles over a 20-year period. Swallow has played on Carla Bley’s recordings since 1978. His albums as a leader or co-leader have appeared on XtraWatt, WATT and ECM, and they include Always Pack Your Uniform On Top, Are We There Yet?, Damaged in Transit, Deconstructed, Real Book, Go Together, Swallow, Duets, Carla, Home and Hotel Hello.

Mark Feldman is an active performer in the worlds of jazz, Improvised Music and 20th Century Contemporary Music. He has performed and/or recorded with Paul Bley, John Abercrombie, John Zorn, Michael Brecker, Muhal Richard Abrams, Joe Lovano, Dider Lockwood, Billy Hart, Jimmy Raney, Dave Douglas, Uri Caine, Don Byron, Louis Sclavis, Richard Galliano, Sylvie Courvoisier, Lee Konitz, Tim Berne, Sean Lennon, Jonny Cash, Loretta Lynn, Ray Anderson and Kenny Warner among others. He has appeared as a soloist with The Netherlands Radio Philharmonic, WDR Radio Orchestra, WDR Jazz Orchestra, Basel Sinfonetta In Chamber music he has performed and recorded the Complete String Quartets of John Zorn (Tzadik Records) and his own works for String Quartet Book of Tells (Enja Records) With the Trio “Abaton” he performs the works of composer Sylvie Courvoisier resulting in the CD Abaton on ECM Records. He is currently a member of the John Abercrombie Quartet. In addition to international concert tours the resulting Recordings “Open Land” “Cat n’ Mouse” and “Class Trip” all on ECM Records.
Composer John Zorn has included him in many concert and recording projects over the past 10 year including Masada String Trio, Bar Kophfa, film scores, chamber music and Performances of the Game Piece “Cobra” Mr. Feldman is found on over 100 jazz recordings as a soloist including his own releases “What Exit” (Ecm), “Music for Violin Alone” (Tzadik), "Music for Violin and Piano" (avant) ,"Book of Tells" (enja) ,“Malphas” (Tzadik), “Masada Recital’ (Tzadik),“Masada String Trio, 50th Vol 1 ” (tzadik) ... As a composer he has been commissioned and performed by the Kronos Quartet and the WDR Radio Orchestra. In commercial music he has appeared as a Studio Musician with Such Groups as Cheryl Crow, The Manhattan Transfer, Diana Ross and Carol King among others. Before moving to New York City in 1986 Mr. Feldman lived in Nashville Tennessee where he was member of the ensembles that traveled and accompanied country western singers Loretta Lynn and Ray Price.In Nashville as a studio musician he appeared on over 200 Recordings including albums by Johnny Cash, Willie Nelson and George Jones, Jerry Lee Lewis and Television evangelist Jimmy Swaggart.

A musician in the New York area for 30 years, Ben Monder has performed with a wide variety of artists, including Jack McDuff, Marc Johnson, Lee Konitz, George Garzone, Paul Motian, Guillermo Klein, and Maria Schneider. He has conducted clinics and workshops around the world, and served on the faculty of the New England Conservatory from 2002-2005. He was also the recipient of a Doris Duke Artist Award in 2014. Ben continues to perform original music internationally with his own quartet, trio, and in an ongoing duo project with vocalist Theo Bleckmann. He has appeared on over 130 CDs as a sideman, and has released 5 as a leader: Hydra (Sunnyside, 2013), Oceana (Sunnyside, 2005), Excavation (Arabesque, 2000), Dust (Arabesque, 1997), and Flux (Songlines,1995).
