About the album

Composer and violinist Ittai Shapiraʼs Concierto Latino represents the intertwining of the musical and the personal. The work itself - the Concierto Latino - was begun following a dramatic incident when Shapira was attacked by a gang of seven or eight men one freezing winterʼs night in New York City. Along with Shapira's interest in Latin composers Villa Lobod, de Falla and Golijov, he also found influence for his Concierto Latino from Columbian singer Shakira and the Cuban music of Bueno Vista Social Club.
