TCB Records, also known as The Montreux Jazz Label, has been releasing historic broadcast recordings from the archives of the Swiss Radio Corporation since 1994. Featuring a venerable roll call of American jazz stars who were part of the post-war cultural invasion of Europe during the late 1940s through to the 1960s, the Swiss Radio Day’s series presents historically important performances by legendary artists in their prime. From small groups to big bands, the spontaneity and excitement of the performances are relived in a quality of sound that demonstrates the technical brilliance of the Swiss Radio engineers and subsequent remastering of the original tapes by TCB. Swiss Radio Days is a collectable series for connoisseurs and those newly introduced to this important period of jazz history.
TCB Records was founded by drummer Peter Schmidlin who passed away in 2015. As well as being the owner and CEO of the label, Peter was also part of the rhythm section of the legendary Jazz Live Trio, the Swiss Radio Corporation’s house band, who accompanied many of the visiting jazz stars.
Since Peters passing, his wife Barbara Frei Schmidlin has taken charge of the company with a determination to continue Peter's lifelong passion and commitment in keeping jazz alive. Producing and delivering the highest quality recordings continues under Barbara’s management, both in the recording studio with new projects and through the archives of Swiss Radio.
